Balenciaga

Balenciaga

Founded by pioneering Spanish couturier Cristóbal Balenciaga, the house has become a fashion legend. But it is designer Nicolas Ghesquière who has made the modern brand one of the most coveted labels there is in his nine years as Creative Director. He draws inspiratons from Balenciaga's rich heritage with retro-sixties flourishes. Slices of shantung and plastic might adorn a sack dress; a color-saturated floral print from the house archives might be worked into a sculpted bell dress paired with knee-high leather gladiator boots. We love his signature looks like the skinny pant, sharply tailored dresses in techno materials like embroidered latex or patent leather, motorcycle jackets, and anything with a dramatic shoulder. Under Ghesquière, the house has also expanded into menswear and made a huge splash with its coveted accessories.
